New Music From The Clientele
The Clientele's 'Bonfires On The Heath' out October 6th.
Take a look outside precious reader; the warm summer air is about to take a turn to a slight chill. Frost will soon cover the morning lawn and you'll be able to make smoke rings with your breath. These poetic ramblings might hint at the changing season before us, or they may be this writers' attempt at sounding dramatic and witty like London based pop group The Clientele; a quintessential band for the fall.
The Clientele have always had a sophisticated sound. Not sophisticated like cocktail parties or runway fashion shows, more like reading from a rare book collection while sipping potent hundred-year-old absinthe. Even with debut album Suburban Light (recorded entirely on a boombox), The Clientele have managed a steady balance of sharp 60's throw back pop and late 80's Brit indie. Lead Singer Alisdair MacLean's soft hush of a voice is eerie and inviting as ever on the latest album, Bonfires On The Heath. Lead off track and first single, "I Wonder Who We Are," is a bouncy and subtle piece complimented nicely with rolling piano lines and trumpets.
Bonfires On The Heath will be available via Merge Records October 6th.

Kanye, The VMAs and Happy Birthdays
Something must be in the water for hip-hop artists.
Yeezy, Yeezy, Yeezy, what have you done? We’ve all watched the VMAs video of Kanye’s outbreak over and over again - it’s been watched plenty by America. Nobody likes to see a cute 19-year-old country singer get her feelings hurt...

You're Only As Good As Your Latest Song
Another Day On Earth writes and records a new song every day – and HEAVE gets a weekly update on this adventerous project.
Hey. Since January, for who knows why, I've been writing and recording a song each and every day. This has allowed me to really master the art of guitar tuning, and also to master the art of dodging landlords. Anyways, I post the tunes on a "blog," http://anotherdayonearth.net. I'm using this space to review the week's songs...

Art Brut Announces Fall Tour
Art Brut on tour in support of 'Art Brut vs Satan.'
I can’t really put my finger on why, but I like Art Brut. Their songs are as ridiculous as the stories they tell – and I laugh every time Argos says, “Ready Art Brut?” before they go into another track that they guarantee will be “top of the pops.” Art Brut vs Satan released to rave reviews, and now the band is taking it on tour. Release dates below...

In Remembrance: Refused
If you only subscribe to one hardcore band, let that band be Refused.
Finding decent hardcore can be tough these days. I mean, good lord, Verse and Have Heart both break up within months of each other. What’s that all about? But bear with me as we go a bit further back than either of these bands. The band I want to talk about broke up before most of these bands were even conceived. Oh, and they’re from Sweden...
