New Music From The Clientele
The Clientele's 'Bonfires On The Heath' out October 6th.
Take a look outside precious reader; the warm summer air is about to take a turn to a slight chill. Frost will soon cover the morning lawn and you'll be able to make smoke rings with your breath. These poetic ramblings might hint at the changing season before us, or they may be this writers' attempt at sounding dramatic and witty like London based pop group The Clientele; a quintessential band for the fall.
The Clientele have always had a sophisticated sound. Not sophisticated like cocktail parties or runway fashion shows, more like reading from a rare book collection while sipping potent hundred-year-old absinthe. Even with debut album Suburban Light (recorded entirely on a boombox), The Clientele have managed a steady balance of sharp 60's throw back pop and late 80's Brit indie. Lead Singer Alisdair MacLean's soft hush of a voice is eerie and inviting as ever on the latest album, Bonfires On The Heath. Lead off track and first single, "I Wonder Who We Are," is a bouncy and subtle piece complimented nicely with rolling piano lines and trumpets.
Bonfires On The Heath will be available via Merge Records October 6th.
