We've Got You Covered
The Boy Least Likely To Takes on George Michael – and we guess Limp Bizkit.
I know of three versions of “Faith” that exist, and one of them is the original by George Michael. I remember liking the original version by Michael, but only for the music video. I came to find out (while in the process of writing this) that my fundamental reasoning for liking the song isn’t even real. I thought I liked “Faith” because the video had legs and arms dancing around without being attached to any sort of body...

Get To Know: Estate
Don’t be afraid to let it all hang out when listen to Estate’s music. No one’s watching.
Why does Minnesota keep creeping up in these columns? Is it because of the wonderful wildlife is has to offer? Or perhaps it’s the nightlife of Minneapolis? Or maybe it’s neither. Maybe it’s just all the talented bands that just so happen to reside there. Electro-masters Estate have joined the ranks of Minneapolis royalty this week with their minimalistic approach to creating elaborate beats...

New Music From The Hot Melts
British bred but Chicago recorded.
Liverpool is at it again. In the past 50 years of pop music, this little industrious city by the sea has been home to a few “decent” bands. The Beatles, The La's, Echo and The Bunnymen and Clinic are just a few. Today the list gets larger with the addition of a rambunctious quartet known as The Hot Melts. Formed in 2006 by front man Will Bayliss, The Hot Melts are the first signing to Epitaph Records UK imprint Wonderland. Their first single "(I Wish I Had) Never Been In Love" is an energetic kick in the ding-dong.
Much like Chicago brethren The Smoking Popes, The Hot Melts play up the sad bastard punk melodies quite well. Coincidentally, after being holed up in a Liverpool studio a few months ago, Epitaph flew the band into Chicago to record their debut album – a good choice for a band that do a fine job of not sounding too British. The influence of local favorites Naked Raygun can be felt through out this relentless track, along with the not so serious side of bands like Murder City Devils and The Butthole Surfers.
Be on the lookout for the as of yet untitled debut sometime early winter.
