Thom Yorke to Remix Doom
Can Thom make us feel more inept?
I have this theory about life: If I can do one-half of the things that Thom Yorke has done one-tenth as well, I can die thinking that I'm a successful human being.
Unfortunately, up until now, I've been completely vexed. He's making it harder, too. Thom Yorke will be remixing a track on DOOM's (note, no more "MF DOOM") new album. Thom's remix of "Gazzillion Ear" will be available on iTunes for free if you download the entire full album, BORN LIKE THIS. It drops on March 24 and, if it is even close to the other DOOM albums, is well worth whatever iTunes is going to charge for it.
I'm personally excited about Thom flexing that noodle of his more often on more hip-hop oriented projects... but it's a whole other music genre for me to start exercising in. Dammit, Thom, I'm tired. Slow down.

PB&J To Tour with DM
Depeche Mode ain't too old for the whistlin' Swedes
Peter Bjorn & John will be hitting the road this summer under some unlikely circumstances: they won't be headlining and they'll be opening for Depeche Mode.
Sure, the swingin' Swedes could easily headline their own tour, but why not get behind a band with twenty more years under their belt and be able to play every one of the biggest venues in the country during Depeche Mode's self-dubbed "Tour of the Universe." I'm all for getting as epic as possible, and maybe that's what PB&J are going for these days given their recent music video, but touring with Depeche Mode? The only thing more aggravating is The Hold Steady opening up for Dave Matthews Band.

New Music from Estate
Minneapolis mix masters redo Madrid’s 'Bam Bam Brother.'
One of our favorite Minneapolis movers and shakers Estate are back with their reworking of “Bam Bam Brother” by the Toronto band Madrid. The band has made a couple changes since we last spoke to them back in November. Members Dan Kramer and Josh Johnson started a music and sound design company in Minneapolis called Transonic and has started working with bands to remix their current tracks (although the exact bands remain a secret until later)...

Pitchfork Announces Main Line-Up
Tortoise, Built to Spill, and others come to Chicago
Festival season is upon us. With Bonaroo and Cochella already set in their line-ups, it was about time Chicago’s own festival Pitchfork announced theirs. Pitchfork Media’s fifth festival in Chicago’s Union Park happens July 17th through the 19th and is mixing up their format this year. Instead of having Friday night headliners play their seminal albums in their entirety, they’re letting fans and ticket purchasers pick the set list through their new series “Write the Night: Set Lists By Request.” This year’s Friday night players are Built to Spill, the Jesus Lizard, Yo La Tango, and Tortoise. Ticket purchasers will receive a link via email to vote for specific songs from each band starting March 13th when tickets go on sale and ending June 12th.
The other two days also feature fantastic headliners including the National, Pharoahe Monch, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart on Saturday and Grizzly Bear, the Walkmen, and Vivian Girls on Sunday. Supporting acts have yet to be announced so keep a lookout on the official site for more artists. Tickets go on sale March 13th to the public so get your wallets out and get ready for music done up Chicago style (hold the ketchup).

The Quintessential Alt-Country Album
Hey, everything is fine.
Hailing from southern California, alt-country quartet Limbeck originally began as a pop-punk/emo band. Their first release, This Chapter is Called Titles, was primarily a pop-punk album. After the release of their debut, their sound began its gradual shift toward alt-country. By the time their second album, Hi, Everything’s Great, was released, the band had completely abandoned their pop-punk roots for alt-country...
