Pitchfork Announces Main Line-Up

Tortoise, Built to Spill, and others come to Chicago

Festival season is upon us.  With Bonaroo and Cochella already set in their line-ups, it was about time Chicago’s own festival Pitchfork announced theirs.  Pitchfork Media’s fifth festival in Chicago’s Union Park happens July 17th through the 19th and is mixing up their format this year.  Instead of having Friday night headliners play their seminal albums in their entirety, they’re letting fans and ticket purchasers pick the set list through their new series “Write the Night: Set Lists By Request.”  This year’s Friday night players are Built to Spill, the Jesus Lizard, Yo La Tango, and Tortoise.  Ticket purchasers will receive a link via email to vote for specific songs from each band starting March 13th when tickets go on sale and ending June 12th

The other two days also feature fantastic headliners including the National, Pharoahe Monch, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart on Saturday and Grizzly Bear, the Walkmen, and Vivian Girls on Sunday.  Supporting acts have yet to be announced so keep a lookout on the official site for more artists.  Tickets go on sale March 13th to the public so get your wallets out and get ready for music done up Chicago style (hold the ketchup).
