You're Only As Good As Your Latest Song
Another Day On Earth writes and records a new song every day – and HEAVE gets a weekly update on this adventerous project.
"Sup?! Since January, because I'm a loner Dottie(a rebel), I've been writing and recording a song each and every day. This has allowed me to appear in a glamorous photoshoot with my cat, and also to get scratched and bitten to death. Cats don't like posing. Anyways, I post the tunes on a "blog," http://anotherdayonearth.net. I'm using this space to review the week's songs...

In Remembrance: Arrah And The Ferns
Arrah And The Ferns is quirky folk-pop that left us way too soon.
Everyone, I have something to get off my chest. I’ve been holding out on you. Yes – it’s true, I’ve kept this one up my sleeve for way too long, and you deserve to know. I listen to this band at least once every week or so, and for good reason. Arrah And The Ferns is possibly the greatest band of their kind...

The Lollapalooza Mixtape
The grandaddy of Chicago festivals has finally arrived.
The colossal three-day music festival known as Lollapalooza is once again setting up camp in Grant Park in Chicago this weekend, bringing to the city new and legendary artists alike. This year the festival boast a laundry list of indie rock and electronic acts, along with mammoth bands such as Tool, Depeche Mode, The Killers and Jane’s Addiction. The festival is also adding a second entrance this year, so hopefully getting into the grounds will be a lot smoother this year...

New Music From Islands
Islands gives us 'No You Don't' - Vapors out in September.
Nick Diamond's post-Unicorns project demands one to be in a certain vibe. The simplicity could be looked over, the droning subtlety could take some patience, but the sugary melodies are definitely a thing to praise. Further listening reveals a sound that's surprisingly great for outdoor BBQ'ing?
The nerdy juxtaposition with Unicorns is evident in Islands' latest single from their forthcoming Vapors. Fellow songwriter Jamie Thompson has also returned from his self-imposed anti-rock star exile to help Diamond craft their signature bedroom sound. "No You Don't" runs the gamut between a soundtrack to a hidden level in “Metroid,” or a steppers version of the classic middle school dance floor filler "Popcorn." Either way you can't lose.
Vapors will be available via ANTI early September.
