Get to Know: The Frail
Electronic music with a human heart.
Daniel Lannon and Kevin Durr first started off by emailing their thoughts about music and their dreams of pursuing their careers in it. As similarities in taste and style evolved, the two realized they could put their ideas together and pursue their dreams of being in music together. The influences are pretty apparent once you listen...

Smashing Pumpkins To Debut New Song
Super Bowl Sunday to feature Super New Music
It seems he just won't die. Billy Corgan and company are back one more time with another helping of bald-headed, arrogance-rock and they've just announced that the premiere of the first single will happen on the most ironic of stages. You'll be able to catch those alt-rock pioneers who spearheaded the underground rock movement in the mid-90's on a Hyundai commercial that will air just before kickoff on Super Bowl Sunday.
Because nothing says "quality, intellectual new material from a band you desperately want to have faith in" like a good old fashioned Japanese fuel-injected engine followed by overweight brutes hitting each other and grown men painting their bare chests in the winter. I'll give this one the Gob from Arrested Development seal of disapproval: COME ON!

This time around, expect something a bit different than his solo screaming and green skull antics; he's coming with a full band of insanity in tow...

Loney Dear Loves It All
Heave sits down with the singer-songwriter on the eve of his U.S. tour
Emil Svanängen (a.k.a. Loney Dear) walks across Ludlow Street in the rain with a backpack on and a black denim jacket that is somehow not rebellious looking at all. He’s followed closely by a man of about sixty years who has a smile on his face and seems confused when I introduce myself. Emil takes this opportunity to speak up for the first time (I’d had to lean in close when we shook hands).
“You’ll have to excuse my Dad. He doesn’t speak much English...

Everyday I'm Hustlin'
Lykke Li deals hard with a Rick Ross cover.
“Does anyone love hip-hop in here? Does anyone know Rick Ross in here?” Lykke Li’s questions at the beginning of a recent recording are met with crowd murmurs and some laughs as she busts into the opening hook. Ricky Ross’ version has a fat man counting money and Ross blowing smoke into the Miami air at the start of the music video...
