Up-and-Comer Donnis Launches Free Mixtape

Single ‘Gone’ lays foundation for Atlanta Base Rapper Donnis.

A little known rapper named Donnis has slowly been getting more publicity with his new mixtape, Diary of an ATL Brave. It was mixed by big time producers Mick Boogie and DJ Benzi. The tape has been featured as Complex’s album of the week and an extensive interview with Donnis can be read as well. Diary of an ATL Brave also features Bun B on a track, and Justice league produces a good handful of songs. Donnis served a few years in Tokyo in the US Army, and is currently doing well for himself. Diary of an ATL Brave is available for free at streetwear brand 10 Deep’s website.

The tape makes for a good first launch for the Atlanta rapper. You can definitely hear bits of Kid Cudi and TI in his vocals. The single, “Gone,” feels like something Drake would make, but with a better flow – and Needlez airy, spacey beats on the single flow well with Donnis’s lyrics. We are looking forward to hearing more from the ATL rapper, especially if he and Kid Cudi collaborate together. We are thinking an old school hip-hop duet. No hook, just two rappers flowing back and forth. Only this time it might be fun if Cudi and Donnis play up their similar vocals leaving listeners guessing which MC just spat what. Or maybe that’d just be confusing.
