The Clipse Continues To Trickle Singles Before New Album’s Release
‘All Eyes on Me’ brings Pharrell; Keri Hilson to the table.
The Internet has been struck with another Clipse single, this time a bit more poppy and upbeat than the last track “Kinda Like a Big Deal.” Keri Hilson has been added to the list of guest stars on the duo’s next album, Till the Casket Drops, which is expected to hit stores October 20th of this year. Yeah, we still can’t get over such a distant release, considering their last mixtape, Road Till the Casket Drops, has been in our ears since December of last year.
“All Eyes on Me” brings a pretty quick beat to the table with Pharrell leading us in, leaving the beautiful Ms. Hilson to perform the hook. Too bad the hook is kind of boring and forgettable. She does perform a more lively verse that helps to make up for this, even if it is only a few lines. Too bad Pharrell doesn’t play a bigger part in this one, besides leading and ending the track without a full verse, but chances are we will hear plenty more from him on Clipse’s album.
In fact, so far either the band Pharrell belongs to, The Neptunes, or Pharell have already graced, between performing and producing, six of seven “confirmed” tracks – with the album being so far out its kind of hard to believe their won’t be any shifting of the tracklisting. In an interview with Jenny Boom Boom of Hot 93.7 FM, Clipse commented on how they came to Pharrell with the album in mind and capturing “hip-hop on steroids.” Clipse said that they wanted a rawer, Lord Willin’ feeling to the album, the first LP.
The eight minute interview doesn’t have much else interesting after a few minutes in since Jenny asks primarily about their alleged drug involvements while Pusha and Malice avoid answering at all costs. Additionally, the two make it clear that they hand picked what artists they wanted to work with and that if people don’t go nuts over this album then hip-hop may really be dead. Needless to say Pharrell hands with be soiled in Clipse when the album is finally ready to drop.
Have a listen to their newest joint and tell us what you think. Yeah, tell us if “those tights is fittin’ right” will you? Yessir!
