New Music From Cave Singers

Cave Singers 'Welcome Joy' this time around.

It’s still hard to think that the Cave Singers were born from the remnants of Pretty Girls Make Graves and Murder City Devils.  Well, not too hard. Solid song writing shines through in any genre. The Cave Singers first album, Invitation Songs, was an honest effort at creating beautifully simple folk rock, (Graham Parsons, Emmylou Harris).

This time around, the Seattle natives must have opened up the shades and let a hint of light into that cold Vancouver studio. Welcome Joy treads no new territory, aside from the fact that singer Pete Quirk has loosened up his approach; exuding confidence in the rockers and gentleness in the more somber moments.   Lead off track "Summer Light" hints at the early 70's Southern California sound mastered so well by Lindsey Buckingham and Ms. Stevie Nicks.  A fine start to an album you can easily get lost in.
