We’ve Got You Covered: Shout Out Louds orbit ‘Man on the Moon’

Shout Out Louds take an R.E.M classic and revamp the ever so fantastic ‘Man on the Moon.'

I like conspiracy theories. I don’t go bonkers over them; but I’m always up for someone crazy trying to convince me of something even crazier. “Man on the Moon” by R.E.M. touches on two conspiracy theories – that the United States faked the moon landing and that Andy Kaufman faked his own death (I believe neither of these).  I also buy into another theory, but this one isn’t really a conspiracy – it’s the theory that some songs shouldn’t be touched. I’m looking at you, Shout Out Louds.

Maybe I’ve just never been a fan of the Shout Out Louds. I liked the song “The Comeback” (and maybe three of the 1,400 remixes that exist), but that is where I drew the Shout Out Louds’ liking line. It’s not that their version of “Man on the Moon” is bad, because it’s really not – it’s just not very good. And a not very good cover of a timeless and almost too good song really shouldn’t exist.

But don’t let me tell you what to feel – take a listen to “Man on the Moon” by the Shout Out Louds.
