Chamberlin Smashes Pumpkins
Corgan alone to carry on Smashing Pumpkins' faltering legacy
I used to hold the downfall of The Smashing Pumpkins against drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin. His heroin-addicted ego fell down the same path as Topper from The Clash and we all know that Billy Corgan can't string together a drum beat to save his ever-more shrill voice.
It looks like Jimmy not only got his addictions under control a few years back, but he's bowing out before things get any worse for Corgan's heinous mutation of a band. Billy's erroneousness in the music world and his railings FOR the TicketMaster merger have finally driven the last remaining Pumpkin away: Chamberlin has quit The Smashing Pumpkins.
Cheers, Jimmy. At least one member of the Pumpkins will survive with his pride intact.
