Covers Album to Cover War Children
Indie-Darlings Riddle Philanthropic Effort
Endless amounts of sex, drugs, and rock n roll aren't all we care about over at HeaveMedia. When we're not buried in blow or schooling Slash with our own finger-tapping, we like to give a little back to those less fortunate. Interestingly enough, lots of bands you probably enjoy a lot share our sentiments.
In order to benefit the youngest and least fortunate of Iraq, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, the British "War Child" organization is releasing a tribute album of great bands covering great songs by other great bands and is appropriately titled Heroes. Among those participating are TV on the Radio, Beck, The Hold Steady, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, just to name a few. I'm personally looking forward to Karen O's take on "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" and Peaches' inevitably hyper-lez version of "Search and Destroy." You can find a full track listing here.
The album is set to release on February 16 and will be available here. Just think, one less bump and you can save a child while hearing Tunde Adebimpe do his best Bowie. If that isn't rock n roll, I don't know what is.
