New Music From The Kaiser Chiefs
Kaiser Chiefs quickly becoming the arbiters of indifference
Perhaps channeling a character from that raunchy BBC teen melodrama "Skins," Kaiser Chiefs front man Ricky Wilson takes on the role of a disaffected British youth on their latest single. The call and response conversation of total indifference going on inside his head reinforces the notion that ignorance is bliss. The song then explodes into a head banging, hips shaking chorus. Sure to be a staple at regional slam dancing competitions or theme music to a street fight involving football hooligans
The Leeds, UK rebel rousers Kaiser Chiefs are in fine form with their trademark floor stomping sound and first single "Never Miss A Beat." On their third album, Off With Their Heads, the Chiefs made a conscious effort to bring the kids back to the dance floor, an element that previous album Yours Truly, Angry Mob mostly lacked. Super producer Mark Ronson gives the band his signature sheen on this track - amping up the organs to "Switchin' To Glide" levels. Keyboardist Nick Baines provides his growling low-end bass synth, while guitarist Andrew White has never sounded so menacing.
With the new album, comes a short tour of the States. A rare thing these days for most UK bands it seems, as they are only playing New York, L.A. and Chicago. Off With Their Heads will be available here via Motown October 28.
